How a patch is made

From raw thread to finished badge

Good patches are engineered, not just printed. Here is the exact path your order travels through our US workshop.

Artwork

Send a logo, sketch or photo. Our designers clean it up and prep it for stitching.

STEP 02

Digitizing

We convert your art into a precise machine file that controls every stitch and color.

STEP 03

You get a digital mockup with size, colors and backing. Nothing runs until you approve.

STEP 04

Production

Your patches are made, trimmed and quality-checked by hand against the approved proof.

STEP 05

Ship

Finished patches ship from the US to your door, tracked the whole way.

Custom Embroidery

Sequins Patches

Shine, sparkle and movement

Sequins patches add reflective sparkle and texture that flat embroidery cannot. They catch the light and move with the fabric, making them a favorite for fashion lines, dance and cheer teams, event wear and statement apparel that needs to stand out on stage or on the shelf.

  • Best forFashion, cheer, dance, event and stage wear
  • LookReflective, shimmering, eye-catching

PVC & Rubber Patches

Weatherproof and built tough

Molded from soft PVC rubber, these patches are fully waterproof, flexible and nearly indestructible. Fine 3D detail, crisp edges and vivid color that will not fade in sun or rain make them the standard for tactical gear, morale patches, outdoor brands and marine use.

Digitizing Services

The file behind a flawless stitch

Before anything is embroidered, your artwork must be digitized: converted into a stitch file (DST, EMB and more) that tells the machine exactly where every needle drop goes. Clean digitizing is the difference between a crisp patch and a puckered mess. We digitize logos for patches, caps and apparel, ready for any commercial machine.

  • Best forLogos going to embroidery machines
  • FormatsDST, EMB, PES, EXP and more
  • ResultSmooth, error-free, production-ready stitching
  • DeliveryDigital file, fast turnaround

Woven Patches

Fine detail, flat and clean

Woven patches use thin threads woven together rather than stitched on top, so they hold much finer detail than embroidery. Small text, gradients and intricate multi-color artwork come out sharp and flat. They are ideal for detailed logos, tags and designs that are too fine for thick embroidery thread.

  • Best forDetailed logos, small text, fine artwork
  • LookSmooth, flat, high-detail, slim profile
  • DetailFiner than embroidery, more colors
  • BackingIron-on, sew-on, velcro or adhesive

Chenille Patches

Soft, fuzzy, varsity-style

Chenille patches have the thick, soft, raised texture you see on classic letterman jackets. Made from looped yarn, they add bold retro depth and a premium tactile feel. Perfect for varsity letters, school and team spirit wear, and fashion brands after a vintage American look.

  • Best forVarsity letters, schools, teams, streetwear
  • LookThick, fuzzy, raised retro texture
  • SizeGreat for large letters and bold shapes

A short guide to ordering custom patches

If you have never ordered custom patches before, the choices can feel overwhelming: embroidery or woven, iron-on or velcro, how many colors, what size. This guide walks through everything you need to decide, so your first order comes out exactly how you pictured it.

Start with how the patch will be used

The single most important question is where the patch will live. A patch for a firefighter's uniform faces heat, washing and heavy wear, so durable embroidery or PVC with a sew-on backing makes sense. A patch for a limited fashion drop can lean into sequins or fine woven detail with an iron-on backing. Decide the use first, and the craft and backing follow naturally.

The best patch is not the fanciest one. It is the one matched to how it will actually be worn.

Pick the craft that fits your artwork

Bold, simple logos with a few solid colors are perfect for embroidery. Highly detailed art, small text or gradients come out cleaner as woven patches. Anything that needs to survive the outdoors points to PVC. Big, spirited varsity letters call for chenille. If your design is going onto an embroidery machine rather than becoming a patch, you need digitizing first.

Choose the right backing

Iron-on is the fastest for everyday clothing and caps and needs no sewing. Sew-on is the most permanent and best for garments that see heavy use. Velcro (hook-and-loop) lets you swap patches on and off tactical gear and uniforms. Adhesive is best for temporary or one-time placement. When in doubt, tell us the garment and we will recommend the backing.

Size, color count and quantity

Most shoulder and chest patches land between three and four inches; hat patches are usually two to three inches. More thread colors and larger sizes raise the price slightly, while larger quantities lower the price per piece. Because we have no minimum order, you can start with a single sample and scale up to a full wholesale run once you are happy.

Always approve a proof first

Never approve a patch order you have not seen. Every order here includes a free digital proof showing size, colors and backing, plus free revisions until it is right. Nothing goes into production until you sign off, which is how we keep quality high and surprises at zero.

Custom patch questions

What is the difference between embroidered and woven patches?
Embroidered patches are stitched from thicker thread, giving a raised, textured look that is very durable and great for bold logos. Woven patches use thinner threads woven flat, so they hold much finer detail, small text and more colors, with a smooth low-profile finish. Choose embroidery for a classic textured badge and woven for intricate, detailed artwork.
Do you have a minimum order quantity?
No. We produce a single patch or a large wholesale run. There is no minimum, so small clubs, startups and individuals can order comfortably, and the price per piece drops as your quantity increases. Your free quote shows the exact pricing at each quantity tier.
Can you make a patch from just my logo or a rough sketch?
Yes. Send any logo, sketch, photo or even a hand drawing. Our designers clean it up, digitize it and send you a free digital proof to approve. You do not need print-ready files to get started.
Which backing should I choose?
Iron-on is easiest for everyday clothing and caps with no sewing. Sew-on is the most permanent for heavy-use garments. Velcro (hook-and-loop) is ideal for tactical gear and uniforms where patches are swapped. Adhesive suits temporary placement. Tell us the item and we will recommend the best backing.
How long does an order take?
Most US orders ship in about seven business days after you approve the proof. Rush production is available on request if you are working to a tighter deadline. Because we produce and ship domestically, transit times across the US stay short.
Are your patches really made in the USA?
Yes. We are a US-based custom patch and embroidery workshop, so your order is produced and shipped domestically. That means faster turnaround, easier communication in your time zone, and quality control you can count on.
